I Can Do
Hard Things
Learning to swim is HARD and SCARY!
We shouldn’t ever forget that as adults.
Kids are just tiny humans learning so much about life, emotions and how to handle challenges and failure. Many times they want to take the easy way out and quit, not try, give up instead of push through and be brave.
I had these bracelets custom made for my students to remind them that they CAN do HARD THINGS like learn how to swim.
The orange bracelets are for tiny wrists and the blue ones are for medium sized wrist. Both GLOW IN THE DARK! Kids LOVE that feature of the bracelets.
All students receive a bracelet and are asked to wear them to class. It helps keep them in a POSITIVE mindset that they are there to learn, and not give up. If given the opportunity your child would always chose playing and doing easy skills they’ve already mastered. But that’s not why they come to classes. I will push your child to improve skills they are not good at and learn new ones.
I will often remind students of the motto and ask them what their bracelet says if they stop wanting to try. It helps give them strength, courage and fortitude to push through their fears and reservations.
For students who are not scared and always give 100% in class, I use the bracelets to help them remember which is their dominant hand. I will tell them to turn their head towards their bracelet hand. So it helps all students in different ways.
If your student wears goggles the best thing to do is to store the bracelet in their goggle case/bag in between lessons. I love it when students proudly show me their bracelet on their wrist before class like it’s a badge of honor.
Please do not forget the bracelets. It is part of my students swimming uniform just like a bathing suit and towel.
I would love it if “I Can Do Hard Things” became their motto for life whenever faced with any hard challenge.
